Folk communication in the context of mass communication.

This book is the fruit of his research and reflections over thirty years of academic work, in which he revealed himself as the main continuator of Luiz Beltrão's pioneering work on communication and popular culture studies. It consists of texts written for different periods of his academic life that maintain a surprising line of coherence, so that for the purposes of this work they are presented not in chronological order, but in a sequence that corresponds to the scheme of the expansion of folk communication theory presented in the opening text.

Like Professor Luiz Beltrão, Roberto Benjamin has been concerned with the training of new researchers in this area and, like that master – whose work was projected in the work of Professors Marques de Melo, Tereza Halliday, Benjamin himself and others – the references in this book refer to the academic works of Luiz Custódio da Silva, Osvaldo Meira Trigueiro, Alda Siqueira Campos and to my own work.
