In this work, Professor José Marques de Melo systematizes the body of texts he wrote over the last 40 years on Folkcommunication. He clarifies the concept of Folkcommunication, how the discipline developed academically, what its genres and formats are, how such objects have been researched, who the emblematic icons of the field are, and where studies currently under construction may be heading.

It is a didactic work that seeks to guide those beginning in the field along the paths of acquired knowledge, offering them clues, noting concepts, indicating methodologies, and, at times, undertaking empirical explorations.
