The Study of Folkcommunication According to Luiz Beltrão

*Media and Folklore* is a collection organized by José Marques de Melo dedicated to recovering, systematizing, and updating Luiz Beltrão’s legacy for Folkcommunication studies. The volume brings together foundational texts on popular communication, folklore, mass culture, and mediations, articulating authors such as Marques de Melo himself, Roberto Benjamin, Joseph Luyten, and Osvaldo Meira Trigueiro.

The work presents Folkcommunication as a field focused on popular agents, media, and practices for the circulation of information, opinion, entertainment, and education, addressing themes such as cordel literature, *mamulengo*, popular narratives, carnival, media-oriented Christmas, and the processes through which folkloric manifestations dialogue with, resist, or are reconfigured in the face of mass communication.
