The Media of the Excluded
The communication processes of popular culture manifestations, an object of scientific study, reveal themselves as a rich, multifaceted universe still little explored by researchers, professors, and students of Communication. It was in the mid-1960s that Professor Luiz Beltrão, in his doctoral thesis at the University of Brasília, created and presented the content of a new discipline: Folk Communication. Today, the theories of Folk Communication have begun to attract the attention of scholars throughout the country and have some ardent followers. Among them are Professors José Marques de Melo and Maria Cristina Gobbi, whose collaboration was decisive in the creation of this booklet.
