Folkcommunication in the Global Arena

This book is a reference work for scholars in the field and was organized with the purpose of updating Folkcommunication theory, clarifying concepts and processes, elucidating possible methodologies and techniques, and outlining research themes in the area.

The book brings together authors from the second generation, while also including important texts by Luiz Beltrão’s disciples. The edition adopted four thematic axes: Theory and Methodology, which reflects on the concepts and processes related to the Folkcommunication framework; Genres and Formats, which develops themes that study the traditional forms of communication of the popular — or marginalized — classes, as formulated by Luiz Beltrão; Politics and Contemporaneity, which discusses forms and strategies of action involving Folkcommunication, such as appropriations by political and/or party organizations, or spontaneous manifestations of groups within the media network; and Festivities and Tourism, which presents analyses of popular festivals, their appropriation by the tourism industry, and new organizational scopes.
