Amazon Folk Collection Vol. 2
2026
Folk media and popular mediations
The publication of this second edition of the collection dedicated to Folkcommunication studies in the Amazon represents not only the continuation of an editorial project, but above all the consolidation of a field of inquiry that has been asserting itself with theoretical vigor, empirical density, and social commitment.
This is a work that expresses the maturation of a collectively constructed research agenda, bringing together different perspectives, objects, and methodologies, all anchored in the understanding of communication as a situated cultural practice.
This collection is a direct result of the actions developed by the Research Group in Communication, Culture, and the Amazon — Trokano — which, since 2017, has been dedicated to strengthening Folkcommunication studies in the Amazon region. Over the years, the group has promoted the training of researchers, the organization of scientific events, and the systematic production of knowledge, contributing decisively to the deepening of academic debate on the communicational dynamics that emerge from popular, traditional, and peripheral contexts in the Amazon.
