Belchior

Written by journalist and researcher Alberto Perdigão, this book analyzes the biographies of the Brazilian singer and composer Antonio Carlos Belchior. In six chapters, the author presents the most intriguing and surprising aspects of Belchior's life, work, and death, as published in nine biographical books and 19 chapbooks. The comparative study allows the reader to discover that the Belchior symbolically constructed by the predominantly elitist media is different from the one constructed by the predominantly popular media. It is also possible to perceive some biographical inaccuracies that have become entrenched in common sense and discover aspects never before publicized, especially regarding the artist's ten-year disappearance.
