Lambadão: The invention of a cultural and communicational circuit in the Baixada Cuiabana region.

Lambadão is a musical genre created and disseminated in the Baixada Cuiabana region, forming a cultural and communicational circuit that includes the circulation of bands through religious festivals and musical performances in specialized nightclubs. This article outlines hypothetical origins of lambadão and narrates episodes related to the emergence and consolidation of the genre.

More specifically, it presents the circuit of nightclubs and events historically constituted by bands within the urban space. From a Folkcommunication perspective, lambadão emerges in the peripheral neighborhoods of Greater Cuiabá, dialogues with local folkloric traditions and with musical productions from other regions, and invents its own modes of production, circulation, and consumption.
